- Gokoku Shrines - translated, Gokoku shrines refers to shrines used to defend the country. You will find them in Miyagi Prefecture and they serve as worship centers. However, not your normal kind of worship; the gods hear, known locally as Kami, are the brave soldiers or military persons who died fighting for Japan in the war. As a way to commemorate them, the locals worship these soldiers at Gokoku shrines.
- Streetcar Museum - there is a tramcar museum in town; however, it is quite a hidden spot you will have to maneuver your Sendai Airport Car hire through several streets. But to find it easy, there is a map right on the subway which you should get photo of or memorize it. This Tram museum has a collection of vintage trams that were used around 1926 in late 1976.
- Don’t Festival - to view this festival you may have to shift your holiday plans to January when it happens. One particular shrine, Osaki Hachiman, is the center of attraction during the festival. The shrine is decorated meticulously with pine bough, then visitors are called upon to pray for their needs; mostly increment in both health and wealth. The visitors are given new prayer cards to carry them through the current year as the old ones are destroyed in a huge fire.
- Bansuisodo - this memorial hall was built and named after a great Japanese teacher and poet, Doi Bansui. He was a great English teacher who made immense contributions to the literature curriculum of Sendai higher Middle Schools.
