Japan is known for its ancient towns that gave us some of the greatest Kung Fu tales. Some of these towns still exist to date and have become tourist attractions. Besides that, there are other fun things within the town of Naha you will definitely like.
- Shuri - today Shuri has been made a heritage site after existing for years of being an area where the Ryukyu Kingdom was established. The ancient palace still exists, though it has been renovated to Japanese style architecture. A lot of the Chinese design that once was has been scraped off.
- The War Memorial Park - this park was established to honor all those Japanese soldiers who lost their lives fighting in the Second World War against American soldiers. You will get to see the exact spot where the Japanese soldiers chose to lose their lives instead of surrendering.
- Shurijo Castle - probably one of the strongest fortresses you will ever get to see. It stands real high with one of the most amazing architecture in this world. The interior is lined with gold details which are a true depiction the Ryukyu king used to enjoy while living in the castle.
- Feel Bored? Get a Tat - while cruising around town, you can stop at one of the many tattoo shops in Japan and get an ink job. The local tattooists are professionals and skilled in the job, plus you will find them cheaper than Tokyo tattoo shops.
- The Fish Market - the local fish market is called Makishi and you will be amazed by the exotic fish sold at the market. You can take a walk around and watch the traders and buyers haggle over prices and if you have a camera may get a few shots. The traders don’t speak much English, so a guide will be vital in case you are interested in their stories.
