Things to do in the Yukon

- Tombstone Mountains - if you have a car rental, it better be a four wheel drive to hack the 70km drive through terrains to Tombstone Mountains. When you arrive, take out your hiking gear and comb through the tombstones while enjoying the unparalleled view. Within the mountains there is ample camping area complete with water from the creeks. There is no electricity, so you can have the best camping experience ever.
- Carcross - on the southern part of the Yukon, off the highway Klondike, is this tiny town called Carcross. The town is so tiny it only has about 400people forming the total population. However, even with such a small area covered, the town still has a visitor’s center where you can learn all you want to know about the town. There are some old churches you may want to see and later go to the steam powered boats at the nearby river.
- The Emerald Lake - this lake is just after the small town of Carcross. The name emerald is derived from the bizarre green color the waters have. You can walk along the lake to view this phenomenon or just stand a distance and take in the serenity.
- The Carcross Desert - this is the expanse you see when driving on the Klondike highway. You can park the car rental by the roadside and head out to explore a bit of the sandy terrain. It was formed after a glacier that used to be there evaporated with time leaving the bare sand behind.
