Mt. Nemrut - you cannot fully enjoy Malatya if you don’t try your courage in taking the great Mt. Nemrut tour. A little hiking is good for your soul and you get to view some amazing statues sculpted on these mountains.
The waterfalls of Kernek - you don’t have to take the tour bus here when you have your convenient car rental. You can spend as much time as you want to view the majestic waterfalls and later on go view the Malatya Museum just within the area. If you land in Turkey around 13th or 17th July, you will be lucky to get the apricot festival being celebrated at the park.
The Apricot Market - but if you are not lucky to hit the July in Turkey, you can still visit the Apricot Bazaar. Everything in this market is based on the fruit; you can get fresh apricots straight from the fields or you can sample some apricot desert as well. There is apricot scented soap you can take home with you to remember this apricot heaven.
Tohma River and Lake - part of the river has been reconstructed into a dam so you get two features on the same trail. You will only drive a distance of 20km in your car hire then pack it by the side as you enjoy the cool breeze from the dam and perhaps some sunset.
Yenicami Square - this is an underground market selling all kinds of things from clothing to groceries.

Malatya is a lovely town with all sorts of nice things to indulge in. This is the home for the best apricot fruits you can find and if you get lucky, you may witness the apricot event.
