Chiang Mai Airport lies 9 km (approximately 6 miles) south of central Chiang Mai and has 3 terminals. It is the main airport serving Chiang Mai and is the busiest in the globe. The airport is also known as one of the best in Thailand.

The airport takes pride in its modern facilities that includes facilities for meetings and conference. There are meeting rooms with a capacity of up to 22 people in Terminal 3. Terminal 1 and 2 also have meeting/function rooms. A function area that caters for up to 1000 people is available in Terminal 2. There are various meeting and conference equipment such as projectors, whiteboards, screens, and flipcharts.

Disabled facilities are also available at the airport. Some of these facilities include ramps, adapted showers, toilets, and drinking fountains. Also available are lowered telephones, telephones with induction loops, and text telephones. There is also disabled parking provided in front of Terminal 1.

There are various transport options at Chiang Mai Airport. Travelers can hire cars from the various companies that operate within the airport. These include Avis, Hertz, Thrifty, Budget, Redspot, and Europcar. Then operators can be accessed at their desks on arrivals levels of all terminals. There are also taxi ranks in each terminal. Supervisors are at hand at these terminals to ensure a smooth flow especially during peak hours. There are usually different types of taxis at the airport and supervisors can organize for passengers to get them. Some of the taxis feature with baby capsules, five-seaters, maxi taxis, wheelchair access, and station wagons for those with a lot of baggage.

There are also other means of transport such as buses, shuttles and limousines. Numerous bus services are available at Chiang Mai Airport and they normally require pre-booking. There are clearly marked bus stops at the arrivals just outside the terminals. The limousine services can be arranged to and from the airport. Hotel transfers are available for those who live within Chiang Mai CBD area. Metropolitan and regional suburb transfers are also availed by many transport companies. They normally transfer travelers from the airport to most Chiang Mai suburbs and other regional areas. Pre-booking is required by these companies.

Car parking is available in the airport. Those with private vehicles drive at their own comfort to the airport’s Domestic and International terminals whereby they can park their car. There are usually restrictions on where to park at the airport and parking is only allowed in areas labeled parking area. The departure levels of both the international and domestic terminals are where passengers are dropped off and there is a restriction on picking passengers along the departures roadway.
