Kalamata Airport or the “Captain Vassilis Constantakopoulos” is an international airport situated in the city of Kalamata in Greece. It was renamed in the year 2012 after “Vassilis C. Constantakopoulos”. This Airport is also base to the Aegean Airlines. Its runway stretch of 2.7 km is good enough to accommodate landing and takeoff of almost all major intercontinental airplanes. Though, this International Airport is small in size but it still is a busy airport and accommodates more than 100,000 passengers travelling in a year.

This Airport was also featured in the opening scene of the movie “Before Midnight” in the year 2013. The Kalamata Airport provides only basic amenities to its passengers such as ATM, small stores and café only. It has a military base of the Air Force of Hellenic and use the same runway as used by the commercial flights. The Airport also has a training department situated on the west side of the runway.

The geographical location of the Kalamata Airport is between the Kalamata and Messini which is on the west side of the train tracks on the plains of the River Pamisos. To reach and depart from the Airport, it is well connected through the shuttle and taxi services. It is recommended that during the holiday season in summers, it is best to have your travel arrangements booked in advance only due to huge rush of visitors and long queues at the terminals.
