Las Vegas Airport is the other name for the McCarran International Airport having greater commercial relevance for the areas of the Las Vegas and Clark County of Nevada, United States. It is situated in the Paradise of Clark County which is five miles from the downtown of Las Vegas. This is named after the ex Nevada Senator Pat McCarran and has great number of visitors round the year. The airport also works as a hub for the Great Lakes Airlines and a Focus Point for Allegiant Air and the Southwest Airlines. It has two public terminals which cater to both domestic and international flights while the third terminal is reserved for private flights, government official flights and cargo operations only. It was the first airport to install radio frequency based tracking of luggage which reduces the risk of baggage loss. It also has a Museum of Aviation which is freely available 27 hours a day for its visitors, providing information about the Las Vegas Aerospace history.
There are sufficient transportation facilities available outside the terminals. The consolidated car rental facility is available at public terminals I and II of the airport. There are lots of private taxi options available as well. It is best to use a car when you are going to stay at nearby Hotel or even wish to visit a place that quite far from the terminals. Car hire facilities are available at all the terminals with clear display of tour rates. While hiring a taxi it is important to know few things about the taxi services at Las Vegas. Such as few taxi operators do not accept the credit cards as a payment method.
Also there are some surcharges applicable such as, using the airport tunnel, etc. The facility of car hire is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Special facilities are available for executive and business car hiring that includes walk-up Shuttle, SUV and Limousines service. Best part with hiring a personal taxi is that you can make the reservations in advance as well and also there are various facilities available like wheelchair facility, mini buses and passenger vans that cater to the far downtown areas outside of Las Vegas.
