As you land at Växjö Airport, the attractions of the main city will be about 10km from your reach. This distance is perfect to cover in a car hire as you enjoy the first views of Sweden. When you arrive in your hotel room, you can take out your travel diary and write down some of the great places you have heard are great to visit.
Sweden can be really chilly during the summer, so the best time to make your holiday travel is in early summer; around June. At around this time the weather is warm enough to allow lots of outdoor activities. July is also a good month because the weather was still warm at that time.

It is impossible to catch a taxi to every attraction in this city, which is why getting your Vaxjo airport car rental was a good decision. Some of the tourist hotspots are located a bit outside the city and this is where your private vehicle comes in handy.
- Kronobergs Slottstruin - it takes 10 minutes in your Vaxjo airport car rental to get here. This castle is said to have been built in the 14 century by a bishop's name Lars Michelson. This castle has seen histories of raids, at times destroyed to the ground, rebuilt and even inhabited by enemy armies like the Nils Dacke rebels. The Castle was built on an Island so you may take a mini boat ride to the remaining ruins.
- Sigfrid Statue - this statue was built to tell the story of the great Bishop Sigfrid who is credited for building the Vaxjo Cathedral. The Bishop had come to Swedish land to teach Christianity and fulfill his calling of building a worship place. However a tragic story befell the Bishop’s nephews whom he had travelled with. Some of the locals can tell you the full account of this story.
- Smalands Museum - this is Sweden’s main museum of Glassworks. There is an entire factory dedicated to glass production not far, but this museum mainly showcases artistic works made from glass and other materials. There is a museum shop within the area where you can buy your own gifts made of glass.
- Tegner Cemetary - well a cemetery may not be your idea of fun, but this one has some great story behind it. It was built by the Bishop Tegner who is said to have made major contributing in renovating the previously dull looking church buildings. In this cemetery lies a grave of the famous female singer Kristina Nilsson.
