In the Republic of Macedonia, there are only two international airports: one being Ohrid Airport, and the other, the much larger and busier one, Skopje Airport. Most famously referred as, Skopje “Alexander the Great” Airport. The airport is located some 11 miles (17 km) away from the national capital Skopje in the Municipality of Petrovec. The airport is much busier, for it is estimated that the airport handles almost 900,000 passengers annually.
