Copenhagen is a very eco-friendly city with very many cyclists. However, cycling uses up a lot of energy and you cannot tour the entire city via cycling only. For this reason, many people lean towards car rentals, which enables you get a car of your choice and meeting your exact specifications; fits right within your budget plan. The beauty of car rental, also, is that you do not have to give up cycling all together. Get yourself a car for hire with a carrier add-on, tie your bike up on the carrier and begin your tour. It is very efficient and provides a refreshing escape from use of public transport means.
Although the driving age in the city is 18 years, car hire customers must be above the age of 21, must have held a drivers license for at least more than a year and must perform the purchase with a valid credit card under their name. For drivers under 25 years, an extra fee is charged and anyone above 80 years of age is not allowed to rent a car in Copenhagen. Age restrictions aside, note that driving is always on the right hand side and overtake from the left side. Due to reduced visibility caused by foggy weather conditions more often than not, drivers should always have their headlights on, always; regardless of whether it is 10am or 10pm.
With the roads being in pretty excellent condition, driving in Copenhagen is stress-free. There are plenty of petrol stations so no need to worry about being stranded and many of them are open 24-hours and have automatic pay machines. Only caution on the road is that always watch out for the cyclists; they are everywhere. Cyclists, public transport vehicles and pedestrians always have right of way. This can be rather annoying at times but, when in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Enjoy the freedom offered when you have a car rental. You may drive to the zoo which, with newly-introduced arctic life, will give you a chance to see polar bear within such close proximity that you will get a shiver. Or you could go up to Amalenborg, the residence of the Royal family; or drive to the Experimentarium – a science centre full of peculiar and titillating challenges that aim at giving you a burst of adrenalin rush. Whatever you plan to do, you cannot do it right unless you use car rental services to make the most of your Denmark visit.
