The relatively little known Zadar city is located in Dalmatia, Croatia. Zadar airport is both an air base training base and a commercial airport at the same time. The airport is not busy as such and serves an average of slightly less than 5000 flights in a year. An evening flight is available from Zagreb and tourist flights are also available from some European cities especially during summer. Major airlines operating at the airport include Croatia airlines, Lufthansa, Germanwings, InterSky, Ryanair and Eurolot.com. Low cost flights are easily available at Zadar and the destinations of these flights usually differ by season.
Car hire companies provide transportation from Zadar airport to the city centre and other destinations together with taxis and bus shuttles. Most of the attractions that are worthy visiting in Zadar are located in the Old Town where you can explored comfortably in your hired car and enjoy the different sights in the neighborhood. Some of the churches like St. Simeon Church are very old and are a great source of history. St. Donat’s church boasts of being among the few pre- Romanesque buildings that are well preserved and missing this attraction is quite difficult. Today, the church has been turned into a museum and is no longer being used for religious ceremonies and numerous classical concerts are held here every summer.
You should also consider visiting the city’s archeological museum, the University of Zadar, St. Simeon’s Church and St. Mary’s Church. Normally, if you rent a car to visit all these attractions, you will be required to return the car having the same level of fuel just as when you rented it. In this regard, you must refill the car before dropping it off mostly at a gas station near the station.
If when returning the car the fuel indicator shows less than full, you should inform the car rental agent about this and reach an agreement with him or her. Some of the travel agencies will make some arrangements where their clients can buy the fuel at attractive discount rates. Normally, it is advisable that you work with a company that requires you to return the car with full tank to avoid any room for disagreements. Also, some of the gas stations near Zadar airport might charge more for the fuel and you should consider refilling it elsewhere.
