There are about four airstrips within the Corsica Islands and Calvi is one of the main ones serving the French town of Calvi. This can be your next great tourist destination on an island, which rivals the same thrills you will enjoy in the Caribbean. This French Island has its own unique allure that pulls tourists from over providing the best escapades you could have in your life.
As you check in at the airstrip, you will definitely find your car rental waiting for you at the car park with all the booking details. Just make sure you go through the documents to verify indeed the car is assigned to your name and the policy you agreed on online has been covered fully.
The best attractions
- The Plongee - just as the name alludes, this is a diving club where you will have your first plunge lessons in the French coastal waters. There is gear available for hire and the diving instructors are friendly and patience as you move from sloppy to pro within hours or days.
- Chapel and Statue of Notre Dame de La Serra - from this chapel there is a fantastic view of the city’s bay. You will drive your car rental out of town and leave it at the bottom as you climb your way up to the chapel. If you go around back, you will discover some trails that take you for a jolly walk as you enjoy more of the Calvi skyline. But be sure to catch your breath from the first climb because going back to the chapel through the trails is another climb.
- Calvi Beach - it is impossible to know the biggest fascination that makes this beach famous. This is because there are a lot of landmarks within the surrounding like the great Mountains painted with different colors and converging at the bottom of the deep blue sea waters. At the very end of the bay is the City’s Citadel, sitting pretty at a high point and in full view. The beach itself is quite clean and with lots of water activities to indulge in.
- A Cavallu - this is like a farm area with lots of outdoor stuff to do like feeding the goats and horses. A Cavallu is located near the beach and the owner will kindly let you take a horse ride along the coastline enjoying the beautiful sunset.
Calvi has been just one of the many Islands within the French coastline that offers amazing attractions and activities for tourists.
